"Go, design, go." opens January 7th
OPUS VII is proud to introduce a new exhibit exploring cutting-edge design in transportation.
This immersive, dynamic, and multi-media focused installation showcases nine local and regional experts dedicated to innovation in transportation technology. Executive Director Kaz Oveissi announces, “This hands-on, interactive exhibit continues our commitment to showcase beautiful design that makes an impact on our everyday life.”
The exhibit opens Friday, January 7, 2011 and will run through February 25.
Contributing to the installation:
Arcimoto presents a visual history of its design and engineering progress from product inception to current electric vehicle prototypes, along with revealing information on the state of Electric Vehicles in the world today and in the near future.
BMW and European Motorcycles of Western Oregon displays pieces that demponstrate progress in design and technology for motorcyclists. Comparing textiles and motorcycles from the 1960’s and today, the exhibit realizes the advances in aerodynamics, ergonomics, power and safety.
Boardsports Inc. explores the technology of the longboard. These boards are for transportation, not just for tricks.
Boeing presents “The Birth of the 787 Dreamliner,” a spectacular large-format study of the creation of Boeing’s new carbon-fiber jet. This is both an impressive design object and a superb photographic tribute to an extraordinary machine. Boeing is the world’s largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners and defense, space and security systems.
Cetma Cargo demonstrates smart design in bicycles and a dedication to changing the way the bicycle is perceived and used in daily American contemporary life.
Lane Transit District, LTD celebrates creativity and art in and on the bus, in stations, and in bus shelters. Public art creates a sense of place and enhances the community; Lane Transit District is proud to share their commitment to public art as a part of all of their facilities.
OBEC Consulting Engineers illustrate their belief that a bridge, especially a pedestrian bridge, is sculpture and that the public appreciates and intrinsically recognizes elegance and simplicity of form as the essence of good design. As such, the bridge becomes public art.
Rolf Prima, a leader in high-end cycling wheels, hand build all of their wheels in West Eugene while many others have converted to machine built wheels. They are known for their paired spoke technology, which allows them to build the lowest wire count spoke wheels available, producing some of the fastest road wheels today.
University of Oregon Bike Loan Program, in partnership with Curbys of Nevada, explores public bike rental technology. They will provide an interactive demonstration that will assist in the research and eventual implementation of a community wide bike rental program.

Hannah Goldrich is one of several featured jewelry artists, as are Caroline Viene, Sarah Hood, Chris Giffen, Ruth Von Buren, Shane Miller, and Cynthia Toops. Also on display are glass vessels by Josh Rodine and Samuel Decker; Mixed media by Robert Tomlinson and Terry McIlrath; Textiles by Lori Mason; and furniture by Kerry Wade.
