OPUS VII Grand Opening
Kaz Oveissi, visionary and Executive Director of OPUS VII announces, “This night is going to be a big party and everyone is invited!” “It is my job to transform OPUS VII from a fine art gallery into a social and artistic platform for our whole community. We will do this together and I promise it will be fun.”
The grand opening event will occur in conjunction with Eugene’s First Friday Art Walk. OPUS VII is the final stop on the walk and will feature the unveiling of “The Story of Ziba Design.”
This Ziba exhibition reveals the creative process used to design innovative products, environments, and interactive experiences over its 26 year history for companies such as Microsoft, Sirius, Umpqua Bank, KitchenAid and Memorex. An explanatory display will outline the design process, using photographs, sketches, and models to convey the complexity of invention. A replica “war room” from a recent design project at Ziba will be installed on one wall, offering a snapshot of the research and concept-development process typical of modern design consultancies.
The exhibition centers on three case studies, explaining in detail how Ziba approached design challenges for Sirius Satellite Radio, local financial institution Umpqua Bank, and Chinese sporting apparel company Li-Ning. Through research documents, concept sketches, prototypes and production models, these case studies will walk viewers
through the little-seen world of new product innovation, relating the wide array of tasks and people needed to design goods and services that resonate with modern consumers.
